EmpowerMed Women Network: Stepping Into Year Two with a Revamped Structure with the Same Empowering Vision

10/18/2026

As we reflect on an extraordinary first year, the EmpowerMed Women Network stands proud of what we have achieved alongside our incredible community. Since our inception, our network has grown exponentially—surpassing 600 members, hosting three high-impact regional events, and launching our dedicated digital innovation repository. Driven by our enduring mission to empower women and amplify diverse voices across the East Mediterranean energy sector, Year One laid a solid, collaborative foundation for everything we are building next.

Building on Momentum: The Year Two Strategic Revamp

As we step into Year Two, we are taking bold steps to maximize our regional impact. Following valuable insights from our inaugural year, we are introducing a comprehensive restructuring designed to foster deeper engagement, streamline operations, and align efforts more closely with our members' professional goals.

Moving from our initial six working groups in Year One, we have strategically consolidated our efforts into three core groups:

  • RISE (Mentorship & Development): Focused on career growth, structured mentorship programs, and professional skills enhancement.
  • ALLIES (Men for Women in Energy): Dedicated to engaging male leaders and champions as active partners in fostering workplace equity and inclusion.
To authentically champion our mission of male allyship in the energy sector, the Working Group Lead position for ALLIES is dedicated to male candidates, while the Deputy Lead role is open to women—fostering a powerful collaborative partnership at the top.
  • AMPLIFY (Advocacy & Networking): Centered on external visibility, strategic thought leadership, thought-provoking articles, and high-impact regional networking.

Empowering Digital Innovation through POWERUP

To ensure our digital capabilities remain agile and efficient, we are also introducing POWERUP. Rather than operating as a separate standing working group, POWERUP functions as an on-call digital enablement pool. Designed for direct execution and backed by dedicated IT support, this pool empowers members to seamlessly deploy digital tools, manage innovation repositories, and support technology-driven initiatives across all three core working groups without administrative bottlenecks.

Enhanced Governance for Shared Ownership

To better support both our members and our leads, we are introducing a more organized and supportive governance framework for Year Two. Every working group will now feature a collaborative co-leadership model (Lead and Deputy Lead), giving our teams vital operational backup and shared workloads.

To make this structure even stronger, we are introducing the “Sponsor” as a key addition. Operating as a regular, hands-on link between the Executive Committee and the Working Groups, our sponsor is there to support the teams, notice challenges early, and offer guidance—ensuring leads have a steady helping hand while keeping day-to-day ownership right where it belongs.

Clear Reporting Lines and Strategic Oversight

Complementing our leadership framework, we are establishing clear, transparent reporting lines to bridge our senior advisory guidance directly with active working group operations. To bring this to life, we are introducing a dedicated Strategic Oversight Unit.

Led by a Head of Oversight and supported by dedicated coordinators, the unit implements a structured Monthly Monitoring System to track progress through monthly reports. As part of our new restructuring, this unit is designed to enhance communication flow, support members and leads, and proactively catch any blockers—ensuring that every initiative directly contributes to the broader goals of EMGF.

Looking Ahead

This structural evolution ensures that the EmpowerMed Women Network remains agile, highly impactful, and fully equipped to shape the future of the energy landscape.

As nominations for our new Working Group Leads and Deputy Leads open soon, we want to highlight a few key details for applicants. With the introduction of clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) monitored closely alongside our sponsor this year, we are looking for leads and deputy leads who can dedicate the necessary time to drive activities and achieve these targets. We kindly ask potential candidates to carefully evaluate their availability before applying.
