Speaking at the Economist Impact Sixth New York – Eastern Mediterranean Business Summit, Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) Secretary General H.E. Osama Mobarez emphasized the Forum’s transition from conceptual planning to concrete implementation, outlining key actions taken to strengthen regional cooperation.
In his address, Secretary General Mobarez underscored the importance of the collaborative efforts that have emerged across the Eastern Mediterranean, pointing to the growing number of cross-border partnerships that are building trust, resilience, and mutual advancement.
He reiterated the vital role of the EMGF as a unifying platform for the region, highlighting that its true strength lies in fostering robust and cooperative relationships among member states. “Our mission is to ensure inclusivity,” Mobarez stated. “Energy has a transformative role to play — not only as a driver of development, but also as a catalyst for regional integration.”
Mobarez also addressed the region’s increasing relevance as a strategic energy corridor, connecting Europe with the Middle East and the Gulf. He argued that expanding such initiatives is crucial for enhancing energy security and promoting long-term regional stability.
Concluding his remarks with a call to action, Mobarez stated: “We need more of these partnerships — broad, flexible, and inclusive — to turn ambition into action.”
