Important EMGF Session in the Greek Pavilion at COP28

The EMGF together with the Greek Ministry of Environment & Energy coordinated a session in the Greek Pavilion at COP28 titled " EMGF: Leveraging Decarbonization Efforts in East Med Gas Supplies".

The session witnessed the participation of H.E. Tarek El Molla- Egyptian Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources, H.E. Georgios Papanastasiou- Cypriot Minister of Energy, Industry and Commerce, H.E. Osama Mobarez- EMGF Secretary General, H.E. Alexandra Sdoukou- Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy- Greece, Mr. Mathios Rigas- CEO, Energean, Dr. Fabrizzio Mattana, CEO, IGI Poseidon S.A., Dr. Aristofanis Stefatos, CEO, HEREMA 

During the Session, EMGF SG Mobarez spotted the light on EMGF’s main objectives which is to strike the right balance between Energy Security and Energy transition and Climate Action. in addition, HE reiterated that natural gas will play an important role in this regard, thus we need to accelerate decarbonize of natural gas to reduce emissions across the whole value chain.

"EMGF main objective is to  provide low carbon low cost energy supplies contributing to diversification and security of energy" said SG Mobarez.

EMGF Ministers highlighted that the EMGF is playing a crucial role in advancing collaboration in the East Med. and  acknowledged the strides made in the forum's development, these ministers affirm their commitment to building a sustainable and mutually beneficial energy future for the East Mediterranean region
