EMGF Engagement in Athens

Over two impactful days in Athens, co-hosted by HELLENiQ ENERGY, EMGF brought together regional ministers, industry leaders, and global experts to accelerate the Eastern Mediterranean's shift from diverse opportunities to an integrated energy corridor.

On 6 October, on the sidelines of the main conference, the GIAC Executive Committee and the 10th Assembly convened alongside an exclusive site visit to the Asproprygos Refinery units. On 7 October, the High-Level Strategic Conference featured a high-level Ministerial/Industry roundtable and four strategic panels dedicated to driving cross-border infrastructure, regulatory alignment, and actionable execution.

THE ROLE OF EMGF

One Regional Platform, One Shared Vision

The East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) serves as the region's premier intergovernmental platform — bringing together member states, ministers, and industry leaders to unlock the full potential of Eastern Mediterranean gas, strengthen dialogue, and accelerate cooperation on infrastructure, markets, and energy security.

Under the leadership of its Secretary General, Mr. Osama Mobarez, the Forum has reinforced its role as a catalytic and operational platform — not merely a venue for dialogue, but a driver of concrete outcomes. His leadership has been instrumental in transforming EMGF into an effective instrument for regional coordination, fostering trust among member states, mobilizing partnerships with international organizations, and translating shared vision into tangible projects on the ground — including the trilateral Egypt–Cyprus–Greece cooperation witnessed during the Athens Roundtable.

GIAC Engagements

During the Gas Industry Advisory Committee (GIAC) Executive Committee and the 10th Assembly meetings, EMGF welcomed GIAC member companies and partners in person to deliberate on key governance directions and shape an inspiring new vision for the committee.

The day concluded with an exclusive guided tour of the Asproprygos Refinery units, providing delegates with valuable operational insights into regional refining and energy infrastructure.

The conference convened key energy ministers, industry leaders, and regional experts to advance strategic dialogue and accelerate the East Mediterranean's regional energy cooperation and security.

Designed to bridge the gap between long-term vision and operational reality, the conference featured a Ministerial/Industry Roundtable and four sequential panel sessions focused on translating shared priorities into tangible action — tackling critical goals such as advancing cross-border infrastructure development, enhancing regulatory alignment, and driving concrete execution across the entire energy value chain.
