Main Duties - Activities
As the Director of General and Applied Geology Department I am responsible to effectively coordinate and manage three Units that are under my guidance:
- Unit of General Geology, Geological Mapping and Applications
- Unit of Engineering Geology, and
Unit of Applied Geophysics
As a Deputy chair and from June 2020 Chair of Earth Observation and Geohazards Expert Group (EOEG) of EuroGeoSurveys (EGS) main activities are:
- Participation in GEO and GEOSS activities and meetings actively promoting geological applications of Earth Observation;
- Participation in the activities of the group concerning the results of a review on landslide and subsidence databases in the Geological Surveys of Europe - relevant paper
- Participation in the activities for the creation of a European landslide density map.
- Participation in activities concerning a survey among EGS members about the integration of geohazards into urban and land-use planning - relevant paper
- Lead the initiative for the publication of landslide annual reports
- Coordination of EGS team participating in GEO-CRADLE, a H2020 project. EGS participated to this project as an umbrella organisation having three geological surveys as linked third parties and EGS members form Balkan region as invited experts.
