3rd EMGF High Level Working Group Meeting – July 24th, 2019 – Cairo – Egypt

The 3rd EMGF High Level Working Group (HLWG) meeting took place on the 24th of July 2019 in the EMGF Headquarters in Cairo.
The meeting was led by Egypt and attended by the EMGF High Level Working Group (HLWG) Representatives from the Governments of Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan and Palestine, in addition to Guest Participants from The United States of America, France, The European Union and the World Bank.
The meeting discussed the EMGF Roadmap towards the Organizational Establishment of the forum and the launch of its activities that included a suggestion to finalize the forum’s Statute by the end of 2019.
The meeting also discussed the proposed scope of work for the “Master Concept for a Phased Infrastructure Corridor” study, funded by the World Bank.
The meeting discussions went through the proposed Concept Note for the “EMGF General Concepts” comprising the objectives of the Forum, its structure, membership rules, the main role of the HLWG and the location of the forum’s Headquarters in Cairo.
The meeting also presented Egypt’s proposal to launch the EMGF Gas Industry Advisory Committee (GIAC), which could include the international companies and organizations working in the gas industry in order to engage the private sector in the EMGF activities and create an attractive investment climate environment for the investors.
On another note, The European Union affirmed its support to the Forum and its activities as it complies with the energy diversification policies, and announced the allocation of a grant for the official establishment of the forum.
